About Us
The Guatemala Well Project is an
endeavor of volunteers working on behalf of
International Children’s Care. Its purpose is
to drill wells to provide clean drinking water to
the ICC orphanage facilities in Guatemala and to
the surrounding villages.
The means of accomplishing this task are in hand. A
donated drill rig was shipped to Guatemala and in
2005 was used to drill 4 wells which serve a
population of nearly 700 students and staff at the
ICC facilities in Guatemala. In December 2005 a
container of 42,000 lbs. of equipment, including a
well service truck was shipped in preparation for
the 2006 drilling efforts. In December 2006 another
rig and two pickups were shipped and are now in
Guatemala to be used for this purpose.
The Guatemala Well Project seeks funds and
volunteers to continue, support and expand these
efforts. Although the project has received the
blessings of much donated equipment and supplies,
there are cables, pipes, well casing, drill bits,
pumps, electrical control boxes, wire and other
essential gear which must be purchased and
shipped.
It is the intention of the volunteers to continue
and expand the well drilling efforts in rural
Guatemala. The need there is almost overwhelming.
The people depend on contaminated water for all
their needs. Every village in the area is
desperately in need of the clean water which is
only 300 feet beneath them. Acute diarrhea illness
from amoeba and e-coli are major and pervasive
health issues. Our objective is to impact this
problem as God gives us strength and resources to
so do. We seek your assistance.
